Friendly Society – Scarecrow Competition

Anyone is welcome to enter the scarecrow competition, especially families and entry is free.  To participate, entrants must submit completed registration forms and have their Scarecrows on display at their home address by 1st May 2017 and must be visible from the road.  Registration forms are available at the Westbury Community Stores.

It will be necessary to transport the scarecrow to the Robert Glanvile Playing Field on the morning of Saturday 20th May 2017 for display.

This year’s theme is Nursery Rhyme Characters.

A selection of scarecrows will be included in the Club Day parade on Sunday, 21st May 2017.

SCARECROW COMPETITION 2017 – GUIDELINES

ENTRY

  1. Anyone is welcome to enter the scarecrow competition, especially families.
  2. Entry is free.
  3. Registration forms are available at the Westbury Community Stores.
  4. To participate, entrants must submit completed registration forms and have their Scarecrows on display at their home address by 1st May 2017 and must be visible from the road.
  5. You will need to transport your scarecrow to the Robert Glanvile Playing Field during the morning of Saturday 20th May 2017 for display. Participants are responsible for arranging transport of their scarecrow.
  6. You will be provided with an identification number, which should be clearly displayed for identification purposes.
  7. There aren’t really any rules as to how you have to build your scarecrow. All we ask is that you include some straw somewhere – it wouldn’t be a scarecrow otherwise!
  8. This year’s theme is Nursery Rhyme Characters. Your scarecrow should fit into this theme – although whatever you do, please keep it polite and appropriate!
  9. JUDGING
  1. Only scarecrows registered in time will be considered by the judges.
  2. Judging will be undertaken during the week commencing 15th May 2017 and will be judged on the following criteria:- (a) Interpretation of the theme (b) Originality and (c) artistic/creative skills
  3. Prize winners will be announced and presentations will be made as part of the Friendly Society’s Village Day Celebrations on the playing field.
  4. The judge’s decision is absolutely final – and can’t be challenged.
  5. By entering the scarecrow competition you confirm that you accept these rules.1.   A selection of scarecrows will be included in the Club Day parade on Sunday, 21st May 2017.1.
