Reminder – the village shop needs your views

This is a quick reminder that there is still time to complete the questionnaire produced by the village shop in order to help it respond better to community needs.   It only takes a minute but needs to be completed by 14th October – the end of next week.  You can access  the questionnaire here . Paper copies for those who need them are available from the shop.

The shop and Post Office are essential to our community and provide an extensive range of goods in a friendly environment. We should all support the shop as much as possible, we need our local shop and Post Office to support our community.

The community shop and Post Office provide an invaluable service both for village members and for people living further afield. Not only does the shop sell a wide variety of household goods, stationery and food, including an environmentally sound scheme for distributing milk through reusable glass bottles, but the Post Office also provides a huge range of facilities, saving local inhabitants from having to make trips into Wells or Cheddar. In addition, the shop is a lynchpin of village communication, incorporating volunteers of all ages and enabling support, particularly for elderly isolated villagers, which was highlighted during the Covid lockdown periods. With the garden it is also a valuable space for pop-up fundraising events such as cream teas, coffee mornings and Christmas celebrations, which all help to foster the community spirit that is such a hallmark of Westbury. sub Mendip
