Reminder – the village shop needs your views

This is a quick reminder that there is still time to complete the questionnaire produced by the village shop in order to help it respond better to community needs.   It only takes a minute but needs to be completed by 14th October – the end of next week.  You can access  the questionnaire here . Paper copies for those who need them are available from the shop.

Your Village Shop Needs You!

The Westbury-sub-Mendip Community Shop would like to ask for your feedback by completing a short customer survey.  This will provide an important input to the plans for continued development of the shop.  You can complete the survey online, following the link below.

As a small incentive, all those who provide their contact details will be entered into a prize draw for a food hamper.

We are asking our Eyes and Ears team to help those of their neighbours who cannot access the internet by submitting a return for them or by printing off and returning a hard copy of the survey (see link below ) to the shop, ideally before 14th October.

Thanks for your continuing support – the Shop needs you

Westbury Shop Manager Vacancy

As many in Westbury will know, Penny Colwill is retiring from the position of Shop Manager at the end of May. Penny has played a central part in the success of the Shop since it was founded as a Community Benefit Society back in 2015, and we are looking for a confident, self-motivated person with experience in retail to replace her.
For details of the post, please see the Job Advertisement. The deadline for applications is 15 March. We expect to interview candidates in late March or early April, so that we can appoint a new Manager in time for them to complete any training which may be necessary before taking over responsibility for the Shop.
This is a part-time position, and we believe it may be particularly attractive to people living locally. So please spread the word!

Country walks around Westbury-sub-Mendip

Whatever the season, a country walk is a great way to get out and about.

Head for the Westbury-sub-Mendip Community Shop and pick up one of the Westbury Walks leaflets – they’re only 50p. All of the walks start and end at The Cross, so you can get started as soon as you leave the shop.

Each of the 20 walks is described in detail, with clear directions, maps and useful information plus an indication of how long each walk takes. They vary in length, some only a mile or two, others much longer, as you will see from the list below.

If you want to take supplies with you, the shop sells a variety of sandwiches, pies and drinks. Or you could go to The Westbury Inn for a post-walk cider.
